Dr Cooling is a Consultant General Psychiatrist who has been specialising in personal injury medico-legal practice since 1992. Dr Cooling has expertise in providing carefully evidenced psychiatric reports and over the years, he has been involved in multiple high profile international and British cases, including assessing victims of terrorist events, major disasters and historical abuse.

Dr Cooling is a Bond Solon trained Expert Witness who is revalidated until 2029. Dr Cooling also founded the National Service for Police Psychiatry. Dr Cooling regularly provides comprehensive psychiatric assessments for personal injury cases and he has also been involved in providing advice for many large institutions over the years.

Dr Cooling is a magistrate who served on the Huddersfield Bench in West Yorkshire. Dr Cooling was a founder and board member of ACORN, a charity set-up to provide medical and dental care for children in Romania. ACORN relocated children from 12 orphanages back into the community in and around Ploiești.

Phenomenology of Organic and Functional Psychoses and the Overlap Between Them

This project was based on PSE assessment of 320 psychotic patients and involved a comparison between the phenomenology of psychotic illness and associated with known organic pathology and age-matched psychotic patients with functional psychoses. Dr Cooling presented this project to the Spring Quarterly Meeting in Aberdeen.

Dr Cooling worked on a project at Northwick Park concerning gastro-intestinal permeability in schizophrenia and the paper was presented at the Spring Quarterly Meeting in Aberdeen.

Assessment of Head-Size in Schizophrenia

Shenley Hospital Clinical Project

Dr Cooling was involved in assessing 1400 patients in Shenley Hospital in order to provide data on head-size in schizophrenia.
